Who we are.
Meletium is a free reading-companion project operated by Leonidas Pitsoulis in Greece. Leonidas Pitsoulis is the data controller for the information processed through meletium.com and the Meletium application. Contact for privacy questions and rights requests: privacy@meletium.com.

What we process and why.
We process your email and password for account creation and authentication, your 16+ confirmation for children's-consent compliance, your uploaded documents for running the service (answering questions, generating exercises and diagrams), your conversations with Glaux to preserve history, and the artifacts Glaux generates for you to save them in your library — all on the lawful basis of contract performance under Art. 6(1)(b), with the age confirmation also covered by Art. 6(1)(c) and Art. 8. We also process usage and metering data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in enforcing usage caps and preventing abuse, and any messages you send us on the same basis to respond to you.
We do not intentionally process special-category data (health, religion, etc.). If your uploaded documents happen to contain it, you remain responsible for what you choose to upload.
-
What we do not do.
We do not use your uploads, your conversations, or anything Meletium generates for you to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not show third-party advertising. We do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
-
How long we keep your data.
Account data: until you delete the account; backups for a further 30 days. Uploaded documents, conversations, and artifacts: until you delete them from the app; backups for a further 30 days. Usage and security logs: 12 months. Messages you send us: 24 months from the last reply.
-
Who else processes your data.
We use a small number of third-party services to operate Meletium. We disclose them by category because we may swap providers within a category over time: an AI inference provider (receives your prompts and conversations to generate Glaux's responses, contractually configured so that your data is not used to train the provider's models), hosting infrastructure (stores your account and content under a standard data-processing agreement), authentication (manages sign-in and password security), and customer support (receives the messages you send us). We do not share your data with anyone else.
-
Where your data is processed.
Most processing happens within the European Union. Some sub-processors — notably the AI inference provider — may process data in the United States. For these transfers we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses under Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914.
-
Your rights.
Under EU and Greek data-protection law you have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct anything inaccurate, delete your data, restrict or object to specific processing, receive a copy in a portable format, withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis (without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing), and lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), Kifisias 1-3, 11523 Athens — dpa.gr. You may also complain to the supervisory authority of your country of residence. To exercise any of these, email privacy@meletium.com. We respond within 30 days.
-
Children.
Meletium is intended for readers aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly process personal data of anyone under 16. If you are under 16, please do not create an account; a parent or guardian can use Meletium and let you read with them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 16 has created an account, email privacy@meletium.com and we will delete it.
-
Cookies.
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and remember your language preference. We do not use tracking cookies, and we do not embed third-party advertising or analytics that set cookies.

Changes to this policy.
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects your rights, we will email registered users at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The current version is always at meletium.com/privacy with the effective date at the top.
